THE WANTED - LIGHTNING VIDEO ANALYSIS

 The Wanted are a UK based boy band. They released their debut album in 2009, and their debut single 'All Time Low' was a UK number 1 and spent a total of 17 weeks in the chart. The genre that The Wanted produce would be known as Dance-pop.

Within the video the way in which the artists present themselves to the audience makes it seem as though each member is being personal to the audience. However, it comes across as they are being personal to a specific person that is watching the video. This would therefore attract the audience to following the band as the text that the band are trying to portray themselves as would come across as the 'perfect' boyfriend.

The tempo to the music video gives the impression that it is a quick heartbeat. This would therefore would relate to the lyrics of the song and it then gives more of a meaning to a song.

The camera angles within the video are with the majority of two shots of relationship, as well as this the editing of the piece make it come across as a storyline that involves relationships once agin.

PRELIMINARY MUSIC VIDEO PLANNING

For our preliminary task we shall be copying the first minute of Ed Sheerans debut song 'A Team'.
To complete this task we will be using the following as props and items for costume: Sleeping bag, White/grey hoodie, Black coat, Ripped tights, Hot pants, Black boots and Big Issues.
For our filming we have counted that there will be 20 different shots to match to complete the video.

JUSTIN BIEBER - BOYFRIEND ANALYSIS

Justin Bieber released his first EP in the year of 2009. Since then he has had a huge fan base of teenage girls. His first song that was released 'One Time' had hit into the top 30 of several international markets. The genre that Justin Bieber is part of would be considered as pop.

Within this song the connection that the artist is trying to make with his audience is one that shows how he is trying to be personal to them. This would make the audience members feel like Justin Bieber wants to be their Boyfriend and consequently they choose to be a fan of his and buy his merchandise, this links back to Dyer's star theory.

Many of the shots within the video are close up shots of the artist looking straight back down the camera to his audience. Once again, this shows how personal he is being towards his audience and that now it makes the audience believe that maybe Justin Bieber wants to be their boyfriend.

The stereotypes that this video portrays are ones that show how mature the artist has become. This is shown by the artist sitting in the expensive cars and how he is also talking about money. However, this could be seen as he is still being a child that is dreaming by having it all: the expensive cars, money and girls.

The lighting within this particular music video give off a romantic vibe. This once again shows maturity by the artist. Also it shows how when it comes to romance he is mature like an adult and not childish and cheesy. This also gives the impression to the audience that he is a smooth lover and how they believe he would never let them go.

 

LESSON ON 6TH JULY

During this lesson we had finished the pictures for our Country and Western album cover. Instead of using a camera we used a camera phone as it had an effect that as a group we believed it was a useful effect that worked well with the theme. The effect that was used was called 'Pastel Perfect' and it was used on the application 'Paper Camera' on the Samsung Galaxy S2.
After this we had put the images on to the MAC and used photoshop to add the album songs and barcodes .etc.
Overall, during this lesson there was success and progress with our album cover. We will continue in the next lesson to complete the album covers using photoshop.

COUNTRY AND WESTERN ALBUM COVERS

Typical Country and Western music album covers have their own conventions as well. These include such things as the representations of the backgrounds, props and font of the title.
In these two album covers we se that the backgrounds are representing an outside/barn setting. This shows to the consumer how being outside meets one of the conventions of the music being that they are in touch with nature and freedom.
As well as this the typical album conventions to country and western music would include what the artist is wearing. A cowboy hat would be considered as a typical necessity, however, within the Glen Campbell album cover he is not wearing a hat which could be considered as going against the conventions.

COUNTRY AND WESTERN MUSIC

Country and Western music is generally percieved to contain classic music instrument with a swing like backing to it. Most country western artists are thought to come from Southern America in states such as Texas and Alabama.The typical country western instruments that people believe to be used would include: the harmonica, guitar and Piano. However, other instruments that are not as well known include: the banjo, double bass and violin. These are usually percieved by people as they see these instruments being used for films and TV shows such as 'High Noon'.
In the modern day Country and Western music has changed and artists such as Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift would be conidered the bigger artists within this genre of music. These artists however do not take the traditional approach with their choice of insruments. They are seen o take the approach of using the electric guitar and drums .etc.
