The digipack that is presented here is of Ne-Yo's album 'The Year of the Gentleman'. This album shows typical conventions of R&B.We see that the album's front cover shows that the artist has wealth. This is presented by his suit. The sex appeal that is shown within the front cover as we see that the artist is looking classy which is likely to attract a certain type of audience. The way that the artist has lowered his hat and bowed his head so that the audience can't see his face shows connotations that there is more to him than meets the eye. The font of 'The Year of the Gentleman' looks like calligraphy; this shows the sophistication and class of the artist just through the font.
On the back cover we still see that the artist has kept the image of wealth however we see the typical urban background that is used as a convention of R&B. The contrast of this shows connotations of how the artist is going back to his roots to look forward. The composition in the shot takes the audience eyes away from the song list and more towards the stamp in the top left corner and the legal jargon in the bottom left corner. However the composition of the shot and the lighting come together as the lighting is darker on the right side of the shot and light on the left side, the way that the artist is looking shows connotations of how he his looking to move away from his darker side to becoming a gentleman. This show the link to the title of the album.
