ANALYSIS OF NEYO 'MISS INDEPENDANT'

 At the beginning of the music video we see a shot from a helicopter of the highrise of New York, this would give the audience the impression that it is a mainstream video. As well as this it gives the audience the impression that our main character within the video will be a 'Highflier'. The aspect of our character being a highflier is backed up by him being dressed in smart attire (2 piece suit and hat). We also see by the briefcase that he is not 'the artist', however he is the typical office worker. He is also recognised by all of the employees within the office area. Also by the way he is walking to his own office and into his own office represents his importance within that area. With the way that the female employees are talking to him, and how they all surround him, suggests that he is a 'playa'.

The lyrics at the beginning of the song suggest how he is thinking of 1 woman in particular, however the visual of the video suggest more than 1 woman is involved or that the audience is made to guess which woman it is that the artist is singing about.

The switch between the office and backdrop gives the audience the sense that he is begining to express what he wants in his own way. This then moves onto suggest that he will want to work for this woman, which indicates the office and work. However the use of 'Miss Independant' being used suggests that it is about the typical American woman want to make herself successful within the big city. As well as this, the switch between the artist dancing and the female group dancing indicates the similarity of the 2 people.
